Mining

Metals and minerals

A majority of the metals and minerals in the world come from mines. The conditions in those mines are often very challenging and demanding for the materials used in the equipment and structures.

Some of the most important qualities for the structures and especially the tools are exceptional mechanical endurance and corrosion resistance. In some cases good cleanability is key.

Often the tool materials are steels that are designed to withstand wear and use. In many cases it is also important to select steels that perform well in corrosive environments. The minimum treatment for stainless and acid-fast steels is pickling. High alloyed steels, such as SMO254, 904L and other super austenitic steels, are used in the most critical applications.

Our signature electrolytic CORRO™ treatment on interior and exterior surfaces of structures will enhance the corrosion resistance qualities of stainless steel remarkably. Pipelines must be passivated on-site before deployment.
